farmhus
A new-build ‘farmhouse’ conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Orcadian steading. Finished in dark renders, Scottish larch cladding and corrugated aluminium roofing, it replaces a number of former disused black timber-clad outbuildings. The house consists of several pitched and flat roof forms, linked in a manner reminiscent of traditional crofts that have been extended and added to over time, providing nooks and courtyards that gather light, shelter and protect.
